Dr. Gilbert is the Founder and Owner of Canyon Sports, Fitness, and Physical Therapy. He received his BS in Health/Exercise Science in 1996 from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. After earning his Health/Fitness Instructor Certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) he had a brief career as an Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac Rehabilitation. After shadowing a physical therapist at the hospital in which he was working; he developed an intense interest in the field of Physical Therapy. He later went on to earn a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2002 from A.T. Still University in Mesa Arizona. Concurrently, he completed his certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Shortly after he completed the Long Term Manual Therapy Program through Phoenix Manual Therapy. In late 2006, he founded Canyon Sports, Fitness, and Physical Therapy.
Dr. Gilbert specializes in orthopedic and sports physical therapy and is proficient in treating all orthopedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. In addition he is proficient in several specialty areas including TMJ, vestibular rehabilitation and Dry Needling. Dr. Gilbert is certified through the American Dry Needling Institute as a Certified Integrative Dry Needling (CIDN) Practitioner. He is also a certified BNA EEG Technologist. Dr. Gilbert utilizes his vast knowledge and experience to provide the most efficient treatment plans and cutting edge techniques to get his patients back to pain free function as quickly as possible.
When Dr. Gilbert is away from the clinic he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, rock climbing, waterskiing, and high speed performance driving. He is also an avid reader, digital and printer marketer, and copyrighter. Dr. Gilbert is involved in many church and community events, and enjoys donating his time at free medical clinics in downtown Phoenix and Mexico. He is passionate about physical therapy and the general well being of others and he never misses an opportunity to utilize his vast knowledge and skills to help his patients.
